How do I become a member?

Publishers with at least four children’s trade books in print are eligible to apply for membership. Membership is not available for individuals, authors, or illustrators at this time. Please visit the Prospective Member page for more information, or apply for membership by emailing Ryan.Mita@cbcbooks.org.

Can you help me promote my book?

As the non-profit trade association for children’s books publishers, the Children’s Book Council (CBC) publicizes information about its member publishers’ titles and initiatives. We cannot post your press release or review your book if you are a non-member. If you are interested in working with the CBC, the only national trade organization exclusively dedicated to children’s book publishers, consider applying to become a member.

Are there reading lists that non-member publishers can submit books to?

All books published by a children’s trade publishing company or division are eligible for submission to the Children’s Choices, Notable Social Studies, Outstanding Science, and Best STEM lists. Non-members are assessed a fee of $300 per submitted title. See more here.
