ECC Events Recap 2021

What the ECC Was Up To in 2021

With quite a bit of virtual event planning under our belts, the ECC took to 2021 with passionate creativity for the way we could connect with you all in the ongoing virtual landscape. We brought Couch Conversations, a casual, virtual networking experience back in the springtime and hope to continue this in some form in 2022.

As the year progressed, we, as young publishing professionals ourselves, found that navigating career moves in this ever-evolving, pandemic-affected industry called for an event on how to have a fulfilling and healthy job/career. From this idea was born the Advocating for Yourself Workshop. We brought on some of our dearest and most trusted mentors from our own jobs to offer advice on the uncomfortable conversations and tough decisions that need to be had and made as young professionals, especially in a remote working world.

Lastly, we had been long discussing the possibility of creating a book club, and 2021 was finally the year in which our beloved ECC Book Club was born. Every other month, we connect over a couple of glorious picture books that you have had the privilege of working on. It allows us to chat about the one thing we all passionately hold in common – kids’ books. We are pleased to say that this book club will be continuing in 2022. The next one taking place in January.

Thank you to all the panelists this year and to those who attended our events. We are grateful to be living in a time where even at great distances we are still able to connect with other people passionate about the littlest of readers and the books that will kickstart their love of reading.

As we look to 2022, we will continue refining our virtual events, adding others, and maybe even host something in person (fingers crossed)! Keep a lookout for the January Book Club RSVP and a Trivia Night RSVP early in the new year.
