Students at Gowana Middle School, part of the Shenendehowa Central Schools in Clifton Park, NY have adopted our past National Ambassador for Young People's Literature Gene Luen Yang's Reading Without Walls Challenge — encouraging readers of all ages to pick up a book that is unlike their usual reading.
Michelle Horstmyer, the school librarian, collaborated with the ELA 7 and Art 7 classes to read a book that met the Reading Without Walls Challenge criteria. Then students did a writing piece that would help them compile their graphic novel in Art class. The students made amazing art that represent their Challenge books. See their work below!
