The Walter Dean Myers Award Ceremony
We Need Diverse Books (WNDB) will present the inaugural Walter Dean Myers Award on March 18, 2016, at 10AM at the Library of Congress in collaboration with the Center for the Book and the Young Readers Center.
The award is given in honor of the beloved children’s author Walter Dean Myers (1937 – 2014). Myers was a National Ambassador for Young People’s
Literature as well as a champion of diverse literature. The winner of the first annual Walter Dean Myers Award for Outstanding Children’s Literature – Young Adult Category is the novel All American Boys by Jason Reynolds and Brendan Kiely.
