The Love and Lies of Rukshana Ali
Unable to come out to her conservative Muslim parents, seventeen-year-old Rukshana keeps that part of her identity hidden-which also means keeping her girlfriend, Ariana, hidden. But when her mom catches Rukshana and Ariana together, she whisks her off to stay with family in Bangladesh where, along with her loving family, she is met with a world of arranged marriages, religious tradition, and intolerance. Luckily, Rukshana finds allies, and through reading her grandmother’s old diary, finds the courage to fight for love and take control over her future.
