The end is no longer nigh—it’s here.
The meeting between Hunters Tenn and Aidan is far from the “joining of the chosen ones” that Tenn had hoped it’d be. Aidan is a broken, raving mess who seems more intent on tearing Tenn and his friends apart than helping them vanquish the Dark Lady, the near-mythical figure who created the first monstrous Howl and caused the world to fall to magic. Tenn is left doubting why he was sent to Scotland in the first place—did the spirits send him to save Aidan, or to save the world from Aidan? Before he can decide, the choice is taken from him.
The Guild in which the two are recuperating is attacked and in the ensuing fight, Aidan succumbs to the darkness inside of him and opts to aid the Dark Lady in hope that she will resurrect his late mother. If Aidan truly succumbs to the Dark Lady, he will spell the end of mankind. Tenn must stop him, no matter the cost.
As the Dark Lady rises, Tenn and his companions race to stop Aidan. But can they bring him back into the fold of good? And will Tenn and Aidan really be enough to undo the destruction caused by the Dark Lady and her corrupting magic?
