Max Goes to Mars (Second Edition)
As read from the International Space Station! This a new, fully updated edition of Max Goes to Mars, which was recently launched to the International Space Station and read aloud by astronauts for the children of Earth for NASA’s new Story Time From Space Program. The video will soon be posted at www.StoryTimeFromSpace.com. This story, part of the Max Science Adventure series, sees Max travel with a group of astronauts on the first human trip to Mars, where Max helps make an amazing discovery.
Like all the books from author Jeffrey Bennett, Max Goes to Mars is designed to work simultaneously on three different levels: education, perspective, and inspiration. The education piece comes in the factual content found in the “Big Kid Box” sidebars that appear on many pages; these focus primarily on science but also touches on other subject areas. The perspective piece involves helping children (and parents) learn to see themselves and our planet in a new light. The inspiration piece comes in trying to get children to dream of how they can help make the world a better place, and perhaps travel to space themselves someday. It’s no wonder that all the prior books in the series have won multiple awards, are recommended Grades K-8 by the National Science Teachers Association, and are now part of the Story Time From Space list of books that have been physically launched into orbit for readings by astronauts aboard the International Space Station.
