National Pizza Day

The CBC Holidays Series explores stories that relate to specific holidays so that readers of all ages can celebrate in the best way… with a good book!

Today is National Pizza Day, where we celebrate this cheesy, fun-to-eat food we can all grab a slice of. Whether it’s from your local pizzeria or made fresh at home, pizza is a staple and crowd-favorite in our daily lives with seemingly endless toppings: classic pepperoni, fresh green bell peppers, juicy pineapple, and so many more!

For those who want to know some history about pizza, we can look to Naples during the 1700s to early 1800s. They had the thought to create an inexpensive dish to help feed their hungry population. Thus the flatbread with tomatoes, cheese, oil, garlic, and anchovies was born as one of the first pizzas!

Let’s celebrate National Pizza Day by ordering or creating your favorite pizzas today! 🍕
