World Meteorological Day

The CBC Holidays Series explores stories that relate to specific holidays so that readers of all ages can celebrate in the best way… with a good book!

March 23 was World Meteorological Day, where we celebrate the wonders of the weather. There are many ways our weather changes from day to day and it can be hard to predict alone. Luckily we have the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) constantly studying the clouds and wind patterns, tracking climate change, and watching for natural disasters to help us prepare for when we go outside.
