Nominations open until August 11 for 2021 CBC Diversity Outstanding Achievement Awards
Nominations are now open for the fourth year of the CBC Diversity Outstanding Achievement Awards. These awards are given annually to professionals in the children’s publishing industry who are making or have made a significant impact on diversity in book creation and/or employment practices.
Qualifications for the award include but are not limited to:
- the publishing and marketing of diverse books
- diversity in hiring and mentoring
- efforts that create greater awareness with the public about the importance of diverse voices
From July 22 to August 11, employees of any children’s book publisher can nominate an individual or groups using this confidential online form.
The nominations will be read and evaluated by the members of the CBC Diversity Committee, who will choose three to five winners. The award winners will each get to select an organization of their choice to receive one thousand dollars’ worth of children’s books in their name.
Please see our FAQ section below and email Carl.Lennertz@cbcbooks.org with any further questions.
I work at a non-CBC member house. Can I nominate?
Yes. We are emailing as many non-member houses as we can, and encouraging everyone to pass along the email with nomination guidelines and link to the form.
May I nominate someone who works at a non-CBC member house?
May I nominate an organization instead of an individual?
Can I nominate and not give my name?
No; we must know who is nominating in order to have someone to contact in case we need more information about your nomination. However, the names of nominators will not be shared with anyone outside CBC staff, who will maintain strict confidence.
