In 35 years of operation, Just Us Books has become more than a children’s book publishing company; it’s an institution and remains one of the nation’s few Black-owned publishers. It continues its mission grounded in the same belief that helped launch the company over three decades ago: Good books make a difference.
Authors, illustrators, publishers, long time friends, and family gathered on zoom to honor Just Us Books in December 2023. This video recording of the event includes heartfelt messages of thanks from so many folks, as well as a wonderful speech by Cheryl and Wade Hudson, Just Us Books founders.

The CBC is proud to bring you insights about Jewish books, diversity, and markets from the Association of Jewish Libraries. Susan Kusel, Rebecca Levitan, and Heidi Rabinowitz are major advocates for Jewish children’s literature and are the forces behind the Sydney Taylor Book Award, the Jewish Kidlit Mavens Facebook group, the Book of Life Podcast, and more. Here they speak with publishing staff across departments about publishing and promoting more Judaic books for young people, including topics like New trends in Jewish publishing, How to reach the Jewish market, How to achieve Jewish authenticity on the page, and Jewish #ownvoices. An audience Q&A ends the program.
