An Afternoon With Walter Dean Myers

Saturday, April 21, 2012

2:00 – 3:30pm
Town Hall
119 Eighth Avenue
Seattle, WA

The Seattle Public Library presents an afternoon with Walter Dean Myers. The program is free and open to the public. Tickets and reservations are not required. Parking is available in adjacent pay lots. Discounted parking is available in the main Convention Center garage, two blocks north of Town Hall, with voucher obtained from Town Hall staff. Doors will open at 1:15 p.m.

Myers will explain “Why Reading Is Not Optional,” the theme of his term as National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature. His literacy message is shaped by his own experiences as an African-American man who dropped out of high school, but then built a successful writing career, largely because of his lifelong devotion to reading.
