CBC Marketing Assitant (job position)

The Children’s Book Council is looking for an entry-level marketing assistant to manage information flow and data for our wide range of projects and programs. The marketing assistant will work closely with each member of the staff on programs including virtual events, blog posts, reading lists, and other resources. We are a small organization that offers each employee the chance to grow and increase responsibilities based on skills and interests.

Responsibilities and Duties:

This position will report directly and act as an assistant to the Executive and Assistant Executive Directors, while also working closely with the Head of Content and Marketing Coordinator and will include the following tasks:

  • Drafting/layout of various newsletters, eblasts, and blog posts 
  • Research and creative collaboration across all programs of The CBC and Every Child a Reader
  • Committee work; assist in maintaining committee project timelines, meeting minutes, and more
  • Compiling of book lists and other resources
  • Basic website updating
  • Updating/maintenance/reporting for contact lists in Excel and online

Qualifications and Skills:

  • College degree not required
  • An interest/familiarity in children’s literature and/or publishing a plus
  • Must be comfortable with Microsoft Office Suite, and in particular Excel
  • Office, retail, or library experience a plus
  • Experience in writing for social media/marketing a plus
  • Attention to detail is key with the ability to manage multiple assignments at once
  • Willingness to jump in on new projects and an enthusiasm for learning new skills a must
  • Strong communication skills, organization, and ability to stay on task and be self-motivated in a remote work environment are necessities
