Beyond the Page: Cortney Powell

This week we are delighted to feature Cortney Powell, author of Melowy: Time to Fly (Papercutz). Get to know Cortney through fun questions below.

What’s your favorite (current or all-time) movie, dessert, and adult book?

Alice in Wonderland

Black forest cake

The Alchemist

What is your zodiac sign? Which zodiac personality trait do you relate to most and the least?

I’m on the cusp of Pisces and Aquarius. My Pisces side draws me towards creativity and can be the reason for my sensitive and passionate nature. I identify with the Aquarius traits of being loyal, and a good listener. The Aquarius trait I don’t necessarily relate to, would be that I’m an extremist and the Pisces trait would be moodiness, however my friends and family might say otherwise.

What fictional place would you most like to go?

Camelot, a mythical place in the dark ages full of magic, and heroism. A city that the legendary King Arthur came out of, along with Merlin, the wizard and Morgana La Fay, the fairy.

Tell us one insider-fact about Melowy, Time to Fly.

In the first version, the melowies, and megas were supposed to find a toy unicorn in the maze instead of the magic mirror. The reason for the change is that the editor and I worried that it resembled something from another popular series too closely.

A fan of such comics as BARBIE, LENORE, and LITTLE LULU, Cortney worked on revising the DISNEY FAIRIES scripts for an American audience for the Papercutz graphic novels. Her magical comics journey continue as the writer on the MELOWY graphic novel series, where she believe the most powerful magic of all is: Love.
