The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators Partners with the Authors Guild to Expand Booktalk Nation Series

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

December 4, 2013

The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators is extremely proud to announce a partnership with the Authors Guild to curate the Children’s Book section of Booktalk Nation.  Booktalk Nation provides live, streaming author interviews via their website (www.booktalknation.com) as a way to bring book talks to readers’ living rooms and promote independent bookstores in the process.  Readers can sign up for free and buy signed, personalized copies of the author’s book from a local bookstore chosen by the author. The interviews feature notable children’s book authors such as Judy Blume, Bruce Coville, Ellen Hopkins, and Lin Oliver being interviewed by another author or journalist. In addition, one dollar from each book sold as a result of the interview will be donated to children in need.

“We are so happy to be working with the Author’s Guild to support Booktalk Nation.  Both of our organizations are striving to promote reading, to provide author platforms for their readers to get a personal experience and to support independent bookstores who do so much to bring the right books to the right people.” Said Lin Oliver, Executive Director of SCBWI.

The SCBWI will continue to promote and organize the series with upcoming authors such as Nikki Grimes and Jane Yolen, and encourages all traditionally published author members to apply for interviews.  For more information visit www.booktalknation.com and contact Jennifer Simms, or e-mail sararutenberg@scbwi.org to apply for interviews.

About Booktalk Nation

Booktalk Nation’s nationwide, phone-in and streaming video author talks connect readers with authors while supporting independent bookstores.  Booktalk Nation interviews are hosted by the featured author’s favorite independent bookstore, allowing authors give back to the booksellers who’ve played an essential role in their careers. At booktalknation.com, readers can sign up for free talks, ask authors questions, and order personally inscribed copies of the authors’ titles from an indie bookstore. Book lovers can watch and participate in the live author interviews from anywhere.
