Books for Asia to Collect Children’s Books for Typhoon Haiyan Victims

As a result of the storm that took more than 4,000 lives and displaced 4 million people, entire towns were washed away or severely damaged. There will soon be an urgent need for books as the affected areas start to rebuild their infrastructure, including schools and libraries. Children’s books, in particular, are critical as they allow youth to escape the trauma of their situations and indulge their creativity and imagination.

Books for Asia‘s experienced in-country staff will work with communities in the region to make sure that your books will reach those who need them the most after emergency needs are met. MoneyGram Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the global money transfer company, is providing funds to help with distributions costs. If you’d like to participate in this effort, please contact Wendy Rockett at wrockett@asiafound.org.
