Susan Cain, Acclaimed, New York Times Bestselling Author of Quiet, to Publish New Edition for Children

New York, NY  International bestselling author and co-founder of Quiet Revolution, Susan Cain will publish QUIET POWER: The Secret Strengths of Introverts in May 2015 with Dial Books for Young Readers, an imprint of Penguin Young Readers. Based on the monumental bestseller QUIET: The Power of Introverts in A World That Can’t Stop Talking, this new version focuses on the strengths and challenges of being an introverted kid and teenager. The author is represented Richard Pine at InkWell Management who sold N. American rights to Lauri Hornik, President and Publisher, Dial Books for Young Readers.

“I wrote this book because quiet kids and teens asked me to. Every day they sent me letters telling me about their struggles — and their dreams. It was clear that they needed a book that was just for them, ” said Susan Cain.

Susan Cain sparked a worldwide conversation when she published Quiet. With her inspiring book, she permanently changed the way we see introverts and the way introverts see themselves. The original book focused on the workplace and on advice for parents, and Susan realized that a version for kids was also badly needed. In this book, kids will be able to read about their own sphere—school, extracurriculars, family life, and friendship. They’ll read about actual kids who have tackled the challenges of not being extroverted and who have made a mark in their own quiet way. They’ll hear Susan Cain’s own story, and they’ll be able to make use of the tips at the end of each chapter. The book will also include a guide at the end for parents and teachers.

Written and designed to be insightful, accessible, and empowering, Quiet Power will be illustrated with amusing comic-style art by Grant Snider. Snider was inspired by Susan Cain’s TED Talk to create his popular comic “We Are the Introverts.”

SUSAN CAIN is the co-founder of Quiet Revolution LLC and the author of the award-winning New York Times bestseller QUIET: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking, which has been translated into thirty-six languages, has appeared on many “Best of” lists, and was named the #1 best book of the year by Fast Company magazine, which also named Cain one of its Most Creative People in Business. Cain’s book was the subject of a TIME Magazine cover story, and her writing has appeared in The New York Times, The Atlantic, The Wall Street Journal, and many other publications. Her record-smashing TED talk has been viewed over 9 million times, and was named by Bill Gates one of his all-time favorite talks. Cain has also spoken at Microsoft, Google, the U.S. Treasury, the S.E.C., Harvard, Yale, West Point and the US Naval Academy. She received Harvard Law School’s Celebration Award for Thought Leadership, the Toastmasters International Golden Gavel Award for Communication and Leadership, and was named one of the world’s top 50 Leadership and Management Experts by Inc.
