Kate DiCamillo's New Novel to Feature Comic Strips by K.G. Campbell

New details have emerged about Kate DiCamillo's forthcoming novel, The Illuminated Adventures of Flora and Ulysses. The story of this 240-page book deals with the issues of loss and grief. Artist K.G. Campbell created both the illustrations and comic strips for this project. Candlewick Press has scheduled the release date for September 24, 2013.
"The novel stars a cynical, comic-loving girl and a squirrel who comes back to life with 'powers of strength, flight, and misspelled poetry.' DiCamillo, 48, who lives in Minneapolis, says she got the idea from her mother's obsession with her Electrolux vacuum cleaner and 'a squirrel on my front steps that looked like he was not feeling well.'"
