First Book Gives Away its 100 Millionth Book

First Book has given away its 100 millionth book. Earlier this month, the nonprofit organization hosted the "Ten Books Every Child Should Own" contest. Kidlit fans were asked to cast their vote for an iconic children's book; more than 13,000 people submitted ballots. The winning title is Dr. Seuss' beloved picture book, Green Eggs and Ham. The full list of top ten books include:

  • Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type (Simon & Schuster)
  • Diary of a Wimpy Kid (Abrams)
  • Eating the Alphabet (Houghton Mifflin)
  • Green Eggs and Ham (Random House)
  • Guess How Much I Love You (Candlewick Press)
  • Martin’s Big Words (Disney Publishing Worldwide)
  • The Snowy Day (Puffin)
  • To Kill a Mockingbird (Hachette)
  • Where the Wild Things Are (HarperCollins)
