Cassandra Clare to Feature Gay and Lesbian Characters in the Dark Artifices Series

Fans still have to wait until 2015 for the first book of Cassandra Clare's Dark Artifices series. Just like the Mortal Instruments series and the Infernal Devices trilogy, this new fantasy series will also be set in the "shadowhunter" universe. Clare recently announced on her blog that the new series would feature gay and lesbian characters.

In the past, Clare has featured gay characters in her books. Her hit Mortal Instruments series includes a gay couple, Magnus Bane and Alec Lightwood. Recently, Clare engaged in a Twitter conversation with illustrator Cassandra Jean. Eventually, she convinced Jean to draw a comic-style wedding scene of Magnus and Alec's wedding.
