2012 National Book Award Finalists Announced

The twenty Finalists were revealed this morning on MSNBC's "Morning Joe," hosted by Joe Scarborough, Mika Brzezinski, and Willie Geist. The National Book Awards will be presented on November 14, 2012.

The Finalists in the Young People’s Literature category are:

William Alexander, Goblin Secrets (Margaret K. McElderry Books)

Carrie Arcos, Out of Reach (Simon Pulse)

Patricia McCormick, Never Fall Down (HarperCollins/Balzer + Bray)

Eliot Schrefer, Endangered (Scholastic)

Steve Sheinkin; Bomb: The Race to Build―and Steal―the World’s Most Dangerous Weapon (Flash Point)

The judges in the young adult category were: Judith Ortiz Cofer, Susan Cooper, Daniel Ehrenhaft, Gary D. Schmidt (chair), and Marly Youmans.
