October 05, 2012

Screenwriter/actor Danny Strong will be penning the scripts for the final two installments of the Hunger Games film series. Lionsgate has been confirmed that the conclusion title, Mockingjay, will be sourced for two movies. Part one will likely hit theaters in November 2014 and part two is slated for release in November 2015.

"Strong was one of Variety's 10 Screenwriters to Watch in 2007 who won a WGA Award for writing HBO's 2009 telepic Recount." As an actor, Strong has appeared on Joss Whedon's Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Amy Sherman-Palladino's Gilmore Girls.

Lionsgate has finished casting all the parts for the new tribute characters that will appear in the Catching Fire film adaptation. Oscar-nominated actor Woody Harrelson recently gave an interview with MTV and revealed that he has been working with a person who suffers from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) to prepare for his return as Haymitch Abernathy in the sequel film. Shooting has been taking place in Georgia and will move to Hawaii for the Quarter Quell events.
