Anne Sawyer-Aitch Plans to Walk in a Marathon to Bring Books to Kids in Need
September 17, 2012
In 2013, kidlit author/puppeteer Anne Sawyer-Aitch plans to hit the road to visit various social service agencies that serve Latino children and host Nalah and the Pink Tiger puppet-making workshops. Each child who attends will receive a copy of the book. In order to raise the money needed to embark on this venture, she applied for a grant from the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council. There's just one hitch; she has to match the funding.
"For this project, I need to raise $2,400. To do this, I’m walking in the Community First Fox Cities Marathon in Appleton, WI, on September 23rd. You can help make this project a reality by sponsoring my walk. Why do this? Because I want to get my book Nalah and the Pink Tiger into the hands of kids who may not have access to lots of books at home."
