Dr. Seuss Political Cartoons On View at Holocaust Museum

Although Dr. Seuss became famous for his beloved picture books, he also worked as an editorial cartoonist for New York-based newspaper PM. The Holocaust Museum and Education Center of Southwest Florida have included some of Seuss' cartoons in the exhibit, "American Cartoonists, Nazi Germany and the Holocaust."

During Seuss' two year tenure at PM, he created 400 political cartoons. History professor Richard H. Minear published a collection of these cartoons in the 1999 title, Dr. Seuss Goes to War: The World War II Editorial Cartoons of Theodor Seuss Geisel. Seuss drew influence from this body of work during the creation process for the classic story, Yertle the Turtle.
