The Carle Presents Partners in Wonder: Selections From the Collection of Jane Yolen

Massachusetts author Jane Yolen will be celebrated at an exhibition of the art that has graced her books when The Carle presents Partners in Wonder: Selections from the Collection of Jane Yolen from December 14, 2010 – May 1, 2011. This exhibition of works from her collection includes illustrations from Kathryn Brown, Tomie dePaola, Jane Dyer, Lauren Mills, Barry Moser, Dennis Nolan, and Ruth Sanderson.

Jane Yolen has enjoyed a long and distinguished career writing books for children of all ages. "Her ability to connect so seamlessly to audiences so varied developmentally is remarkable," said The Carles Chief Curator H. Nichols Clark. "In the process, she has forged deep ties to many of the artists who have illustrated her books, and through the years they have given her works from many of these collaborations. As a result she has formed a truly rich and wide-ranging collection that would be the envy of any serious collector."

Yolen, an author of children's fantasy, science fiction and other books including Owl Moon and How Do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight, recently published her 300th book. She is also a poet, a writing and literature teacher, and a reviewer of children's literature. Her books, stories, and poems have won many awards, including a Caldecott Medal, two Nebula Awards, two Christopher Medals, and the World Fantasy Associations Lifetime Achievement Award. She has been called the Hans Christian Andersen of America.
