Out of the Library and Into the Community, Librarians Bring Story Time to Children

To support a child's reading development, librarians are heading into their communities to read to the children who aren't making it into the library.

Being read to is a fundamental first step in the process of learning how to read. When children are read to their minds open, their vocabularies enrich, and they are better prepared to learn in school. Ideally, parents or librarians can read to children at the library, but for some, making it to the library isn't so easy. As a result, librarians are taking it to the streets.
