PW’s Best Children’s Books of 2016 Announced

The editors of 'Publishers Weekly' have revealed their picks for the year's best picture books, middle-grade, and young adult titles, culled from over 2,000 books published in 2016. 

Titles featured on the picture books list include
  • Jazz Day: The Making of a Famous Photograph by Roxane Orgill, illus. by Francis Vallejo (Candlewick)
  • The Journey by Francesca Sanna (Flying Eye)
  • Leave Me Alone by Vera Brosgol (Roaring Brook Press)
Featured middle-grade books include:
  • The Best Man by Richard Peck (Dial)
  • Ghost by Jason Reynolds (Atheneum/Dlouhy)
  • The Girl Who Drank the Moon by Kelly Barnhill (Algonquin Young Readers)
Featured YA novels include:
  • Beast by Brie Spangler (Knopf)
  • The Lie Tree by Frances Hardinge (Amulet)
  • Umbecoming by Jenny Downham (Scholastic/Fickling)
