Philosophy and Children’s Books

As part of Wartenberg’s course Philosophy for Children, undergraduates visit local elementary school students to discuss children’s classics from Seuss to Steig. The picture books spark complex conversations about aesthetics, human nature, and more.

Children’s books are amazingly flexible teaching tools. They help millions of kids learn to read and write, of course. But we can also use them to teach kids — and adults — ideas that might otherwise seem overwhelming.  (NPR)
