CANDLEWICK PRESS ACQUIRES WORLD RIGHTS IN MAJOR NEW WORK FROM ACCLAIMED CHILDREN’S AUTHOR KATE DICAMILLO

October 7, 2014 – Candlewick Press is pleased to announce the acquisition of a new novel from two-time Newbery Medal winner, Kate DiCamillo. World rights to the as yet untitled novel were acquired by President and Publisher Karen Lotz, to be edited by Andrea Tompa, from Holly McGhee at Pippin Properties in a major deal.

The novel, for ages 10 and up, features three girls over one tumultuous summer, discovering a friendship that changes their lives. It is slated for publication in Spring 2016 and will be the next major fiction release after her second Newbery win in 2014 for Flora & Ulysses.

DiCamillo is the U.S. National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature through 2015, has won countless awards for her work, authored 12 New York Times bestsellers, and has 22 million copies in print in over 40 languages worldwide.

“I am absolutely and deeply in love with this book – it is truly extraordinary. We are so pleased to continue as Kate’s global publishing home for this seventh novel, and we are confident it will reach out and speak to the hearts of readers of all ages worldwide,” said Candlewick President and Publisher, Karen Lotz.
