National Ambassador Gene Luen Yang at the 2016 National Book Festival

National Ambassador for Young People's Literature Gene Luen Yang discussed his lifelong love of comics and his work as a graphic novelist and former educator at the National Book Festival in Washington, DC in September.

Yang takes us through his early love of reading and drawing, the inspiration behind his acclaimed graphic novels, and the ever-changing and expanding medium of comics. Through his art and his platform as National Ambassador, “Reading Without Walls,” Yang inspires readers of all ages to expand their horizons by picking up a book they wouldn’t normally choose.
