Little Five Star Seeks Sponsors to Help Give Every Third Grader in Arizona a Copy of ‘Arizona Agriculture: Bee’s Amazing Adventure’

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CHANDLER, AZ (July 24, 2014)— Arizona-based publisher Little Five Star, a division of Five Star Publications, Inc. has launched a campaign to give every third grade student in the state a free copy of its new title, Arizona Agriculture: Bee’s Amazing Adventure.

The culmination of months of research and careful concept development, Arizona Agriculture: Bee’s Amazing Adventure is designed to introduce children in grades K-4 to the Grand Canyon State’s diverse agricultural industry. Written by a team of lifelong educators in compliance with Arizona’s College and Career Ready Standards (also known as Common Core), this interactive story helps students develop a deeper understanding of and appreciation for Arizona’s farmers and ranchers and the many diverse products they bring to the market. Arizona Agriculture: Bee’s Amazing Adventure is funded, in part, by the Arizona Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Consultation and Training Program using Specialty Crop Block Grant funds from the USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service.

The project immediately garnered support from McDonald’s. “McDonald’s of Arizona isexcited to help sponsor the gifting of Arizona Agriculture: Bee’s Amazing Adventure to our state’s third-grade students this November during The University of Arizona Cooperative Extension’s Arizona Agricultural Literacy Days,” says Michelle Slayton, president of McDonald’s Owner/Operator Association of Phoenix and northern Arizona. “McDonald’s proudly supports the hardworking farmers and ranchers of Arizona. Many of the quality ingredients for our great-tasting menu options are purchased from Arizona suppliers. On an annual basis, McDonald’s in Arizona spends more than $43.7 million on food, sourcing local farmers and ranchers, purchasing millions of pounds of lettuce, beef, tomatoes, and lemons. We support literacy and believe this book will help educate our next generation about the importance of Arizona agriculture in our daily lives.”

As a former elementary school teacher, Five Star Publications president Linda F. Radke is dedicated to improving children’s literacy skills and helping them develop a love for reading and writing. “We believe a sponsoring partnership with Five Star Publications, Inc. will not only benefit the children we seek to reach, but also the sponsoring companies as well,” Radke explains. “All sponsors of this project will be listed on the book’s website and bronze, silver, and gold sponsors will be printed inside the book. Sponsors will gain even greater visibility within the state of Arizona by putting their company’s name directly into the hands of approximately 85,000 third-grade students and at the same time, promoting literacy and education in our schools. ”

Five Star also plans to actively promote sponsorships in the book, on promotional pieces such as bookmarks, on its website, social media pages and media kit.
