Little, Brown Books For Young Readers Named Publisher For Dreamworks Animation’s Television Series Dinotrux

New York, NY — Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, a division of Hachette Book Group, will begin publishing children’s books in conjunction with DreamWorks Animation’s award-winning television series Dinotrux in April 2016, it was announced today by Andrew Smith, the division’s Senior Vice President and Deputy Publisher. The license for television show tie-in titles includes reader, storybook, and board book formats with rights in the US and Canada. Kara Sargent, Executive Editorial Director, Brand, Licensed, Media Tie-in Publishing, will oversee the editorial direction of the publishing program. The DreamWorks Animation series is distributed by Netflix and is based on Chris Gall’s award-winning picture book series, which is also published by Little, Brown Books for Young Readers.

DreamWorks Animation’s Dinotrux launched in August 2015 with ten episodes available exclusively on Netflix. The action-packed series takes viewers to a prehistoric world ruled by giant creatures that are half dinosaur and half construction vehicle, including a massive Tyrannosaurus Trux and his best friend, Revvit, a razor-sharp Reptool. The Dinotrux and Reptools join forces for the first time ever to build a bigger and better world while battling the evil D-Structs.

“We’re thrilled to collaborate with DreamWorks Animation to bring young fans a wide array of books tied to the highly imaginative world of Dinotrux,” said Smith. “We’re very much looking forward to continuing the action-packed storytelling that began with the publication of Chris Gall’s critically acclaimed picture book Dinotrux back in 2009.”

Little, Brown Books for Young Readers’ exciting series start for the licensed Dinotrux line begins with the release of five books on April 5, 2016: a hardcover storybook, a 6 x 9 Level One reader, two 8 x 8 storybooks, and a shaped board book. The program will grow to include more board book and storybook formats, as well as sticker books and leveled readers.

“Kids and their families have fallen in love with the first season of Dinotrux,” said Harriet Murphy, Head of Publishing at DreamWorks Animation. “As we gear up for the second season, we’re pleased to extend the Dinotrux world off-screen to licensed books in collaboration with Little, Brown Books for Young Readers.”
