J. K. Rowling Reunites Harry Potter with Old Friends in New Article for Pottermore
As ‘Dumbledore’s Army,’ Harry and friends fought off evil Lord Voldemort’s forces in the final book in the Harry Potter series. Their reunion is described in the article by Rita Skeeter, Gossip Correspondent of the wizarding world’s newspaper the Daily Prophet, and long-term denigrator of Harry and his circle, in a witty take-off of tabloid-style journalism by J.K. Rowling.
In the article, Harry, now turning 34, has ‘threads of silver’ in his black hair, and also sports a mysterious cut over his cheekbone, which Rita deduces has been inflicted as part of his top-secret career as an Auror – an elite unit of specialist officers trained to apprehend Dark Wizards. The career of his friend Ron Weasley, whose ‘famous ginger hair appears to be thinning slightly’, is also examined and given a withering resume by Rita. Their wives Ginny and Hermione, their children, and ex-Dumbledore’s Army members Luna Lovegood and Neville Longbottom, all feature in the article – no-one is safe from Rita Skeeter’s spiteful pen-portraits.
The reappearance of the characters from the beloved Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling, last seen together in the epilogue of the final book, will thrill fans worldwide, and offers a snapshot of the current lives of the former Hogwarts friends, as well as a tantalising glimpse into the next generation.
