Heading to the YALSA YA Services Symposium in November?

The ALA-CBC Committee is sponsoring a program at this year’s YA Services Symposium in Louisville, KY. We invite all attendees to join us on Sunday, November 5 at 8:30 am for Identity in YA: Representing All Teens through Library Programming.

This panel and Q&A pairs YA creators – writers, illustrators, and editors – with librarians to discuss the portrayal of diverse characters in YA and how these books can be used in public and school library programming. YA creators will highlight a book while their librarian partners will present programming ideas inspired by the titles that can be easily implemented in schools and public libraries. The session will end with an audience Q&A.

Participating Authors include Donovan Mixon (Ahgottahandleonit), Emily X. R. Pan (The Astonishing Color of After), and Mitali Perkins (You Bring the Distance Near). Participating librarians include Sandra Farag, Christine Pyles and Dorcas Wong.

We cannot wait to see attendees, hear from these talented authors, and share exciting program ideas with librarians from across the country!

Please email Shaina.Birkhead@CBCBooks about this program.
