Participants at Nielsen’s third Children’s Book Summit looked at book sales, content trends, and the buying habits of millennials.
Nielson’s business development director Kristen McLean spoke about “Books in the Age of Kid Empowerment” and the relationship between digital independence and family engagement. McLean also presented research about an increase in children’s nonfiction about coding, finance, electronics, and “girl power,” and a decline in ebook sales.
Nielsen Entertainment vice president for consumer insights Jordan Rost analyzed millennial behavior and their interest in mindfulness, social networking, and empowerment.
