Assistant Publicity Director at Penguin Young Readers Group

We are currently seeking an Assistant Publicity Director to create and execute major publicity campaigns with the Young Readers Group. This person will work with high-profile authors on major media campaigns, help develop publicity strategies for upcoming titles, and cultivate and maintain strong media relationships with book producers and editors.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Organizing and attending national book tours and author appearances.
  • Pitching national and regional print and online media for coverage.
  • Securing national and regional TV and radio interviews.
  • Drafting press materials including releases, author bios, etc.
  • Managing junior staff members.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years related experience, preferably within children's book publicity
  • Established media contacts
  • Experience working with high-profile, celebrity authors
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
  • Excellent supervisory skills and ability to manage a staff
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to travel up to 5% of the year by car, train, and/or plane
