Editorial Director at Simon Pulse

Requirements:

The Pulse Editorial Director oversees the day-to-day operations of a commercial imprint that is specifically teen, but represents a wide variety of genres in both hardcover, paperback, and ebook. Manages a staff of five editors at various levels. Responsible for new business development and maintaining one's own list, as well overseeing all acquisitions for the staff. Runs editorial meetings, and represents imprint at sales meetings, in-house presentations, and institutional conferences. Works closely with Publisher and Deputy Publisher on imprint identification, list development, and scheduling.

  • Minimum of 8 years of related editorial acquisitions experience.
  • Successful experience as a Sr. Editor or Executive Editor
  • Proven success in book publishing
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a staff.

Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage collaboration across internal departments.
