Duties: Simon and Schuster Children's Publishing seeks a Children's Book Designer or Senior Designer. Responsibilities include: The design and layout of varying range of book formats including early and middle-grade novels, picture books, licensed, and novelty, including covers and interiors; Communicating with illustrators, including art direction, scheduling, and fee arrangement; Working with production, through proofing process and color correction, to finished books.

Requirements: The Designer level requires 3-5 years of children’s book or related design experience. The Senior Designer level requires 5-7 years of children’s book or related design experience. Excellent knowledge of graphics design software including InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Quark express. Experience creating die-lines for novelty books, a plus.
